The California Adult Tobacco Survey (CATS) is funded by the Tobacco Control Section of the California Department of Health Services. CATS is an ongoing monthly telephone survey that collects information on a wide variety of tobacco-related behaviors, attitudes and beliefs from a random sample of adults. The survey began in February of 1993 as a collaborative surveillance effort between the Tobacco Control Section of the California Department of Health Services and the Public Health Institute.
