The California Behavioral Risk Factor Survey (BRFS) is funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The survey has been ongoing since January, 1984. The emphasis of this survey is on health-related behaviors in the California adult population with a specific focus on behaviors related to disease and injury. The survey is part of a surveillance effort conducted by the California Department of Health Services and the Public Health Institute in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The annual sample size for this survey is approximately 4,000 interviews.
